Blog Media Kit
1 year, 3 months ago Posted in: Resources 0

Media kits are important for bloggers to organize their policies and advertising rates. They also communicate the ultimate goal of the blog. One way to look at a media kit is as you blog resume. And just like in a resume, you want to sell your self, or at least your blog and it’s advertising.

iDesign helps with formatting and creating media kits for bloggers. We compile the data, proof the content, and put it all together in an aesthetically appealing format that matches your style or blog.

You want your sponsors to choose your blog to advertise with. If you did not you would not have sent over your media kit. So don’t make it hard the sponsors to find out how to advertise on your blog. There are certain guidelines when putting together a resume:

  • Use bullet points
  • Don’t include a bunch of useless information
  • Make it flow well with the eye
  • Keep it short
  • Tell why they should advertise with your blog
  • Do not use monthly statistics- you should use 6-12 month averages

Doesn’t it make you feel good to step out the house dressed nice to meet someone new? You should feel the same way when you send out your media kit. The style of the media kit should reflect you.

Many bloggers get stuck on how to put together their media kits. Leave it all up to iDesign to create you a beautiful 2 page blog resume to send to current and potential sponsors.

iDesign will ask a series of questions for information to include in your media kit. Remember too much information is better than not enough. I will create your new media kit to be 1-2 pages in length.

iDesign creates media kits using Microsoft Word 2010 with heavy formatting. I will send you 2 copies of your new media kit.

  • PDF
  • DOCX
  • JPG- blurred

The pdf is sent for as the copy you will send to sponsors. You can upload this to Google Docs and share, or you can upload it to your media library in WordPress and send the link URL to potential sponsors. The docx version is if you need to edit the content. Keep in mind. I cannot have everyones versions of Microsoft Word installed on my computer. If you open these highly formatted media kits in other versions or other programs I cannot guarantee the formatting to stay in tack. If you do not have Microsoft Word 2010 installed on your computer and cannot edit your media kit, I do offer to make updates for $5 each or, if paid in advanced, $12.50 for 3 edits or $15 for 6. Keep in mind that you should not be updating your media kit monthly, your statistics numbers should be averaged for 6-12 months. Other programs that you may be able to edit your media kit are OpenOffice.Org Draw. This is a free program, but remember I cannot guarantee the formatting will stay the same. I also send a jpg image of your media kit with numbers and info blurred out. This image is what you can use if you ever want to write a blog post about your new wonderful media kit.

iDesign has created many media kits and they are displayed in the portfolio. If you are interested in iDesign creating your media kit please fill out the form below.
